Fairy Knowe Backpackers and Adventure Center sits on the border of the Wilderness National Park. Our team is ready to advise you on land, air and water adventures available year round! Abseiling, bird-watching, boating, canyoning, hiking, horse-riding, kayaking, paragliding and more - are available to book at reception during your stay!
Bird Watching
Fairy Knowe Adventures is a birder-friendly establishment . The property is set in a forest of yellowwood and milkwood trees with abundant birdlife and has a birdhide on its doorstep.
Hiking
Choose between the Pied Kingfisher Trail (2 hours), Half-Collared Kingfisher Trail (3 hours), Brown Hooded Kingfisher Trail (2 hours), or the Caveman Walk across the Kaaimans River railway bridge to Victoria Bay (2 hours).
Canyoning / Abseiling
This 4,5 hour adventure takes you through a beautiful canyon with many jumps into natural rock pools. The adventure includes two abseils, one of them being 30 meters in height.
Horse Riding
For beginners, there is a 1,5-hour forest ride. For the adventurist or more experienced rider, a 3-hour outride takes the rider through plantations and indigenous forest to a spectacular waterfall.
Standup Paddle Boarding
Explore the Touw River or Kaaimans River Gorge on a Stand Up Paddle board.
Kayaking
You can paddle up the Touw River to view spectacular waterfalls and wonderful birdlife.
Tandem Paragliding
Wilderness is a mecca for paragliding. Experience a flight of a lifetime from one of the many launch sites in and around Wilderness.
Treetop Adventures
